Meet Dr. Alvarez

On Being a Pediatric Dentist

Dentistry, and the pediatric dental specialty, has allowed me to grow as a person and reach my professional goals. I love combining the academic world with the clinical experience, and treasure how patients and their families help me to be a better person and dentist every day.

My passion is working with children of all ages, backgrounds, and needs, helping each develop a love of the dentist and their oral health. I especially love helping little ones – and older kids, too – conquer their fears of the dentist. I equally enjoy helping families understand the importance of good oral health for the child’s overall wellbeing.

Education and Experience

I graduated CES University in Medellin, Columbia in 1997 and practiced general dentistry for two years. I then decided to pursue my love of working with children and returned to CES where I obtained a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry and Preventive Orthodontics in 2001. I next moved to the United States, in 2001, and enrolled at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry, where I received my Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry in 2004.

I love what I do and feel fortunate to have such a fulfilling career. It is rewarding to get to know children and families, building real connections and trust while helping children grow up excited to care for their bright and healthy smiles!

Beyond the Practice

After growing up in Medellin, Columbia, I have lived in Richardson with my family for 21 years. My husband Juan and I have two amazing teenagers. I also have a sweet pet, named Precious. Much of my free time is spent with my family and I prioritize participating in and supporting my kids’ school and recreational activities. I also enjoy exercising, reading, and numerous church-related activities.
